Lights, Camera, Students! Reality as a Recruitment Tool

Lights, Camera, Students! Reality as a Recruitment Tool

How do you recruit students when campus visits and fairs aren’t possible? At Umeå University, the answer was to create Sweden’s first campus reality series: Hallå Campus.

Across three seasons and 14 episodes, eight students opened the doors to their everyday lives, offering prospective students an authentic look at studying and living in Umeå. The series didn’t just tell stories—it drove results: doubling YouTube subscribers, attracting a strong 19–24 audience, and increasing male engagement.

Produced partly in collaboration with an agency and later in-house, the show has built pride internally and gained external recognition, including award nominations. In 2025, Hallå Campus returns as a proven, creative tool for student recruitment.
