Developing a student communication strategy. Why it matters

Developing a student communication strategy. Why it matters

Students represent a key internal stakeholder for universities, and having a distinct, targeted and coordinated student communication strategy is vital to foster a positive learning environment and enhance student engagement and satisfaction.

However, developing such a strategy is challenging as the student communication landscape is often complex and characterised by a multitude of platforms, messages, agendas and senders (e.g. student administrative units, lecturers, etc) on local and central level.

At Aarhus University, we have worked to develop a joint student communication strategy, which takes a student-centered approach and provides administrative staff with a framework for a coordinated communication effort across platforms, administrative units, faculties and departments. In this session, we will share our experiences of developing the strategy, present the strategy itself and our key takeaways from the development process. Finally, we will discuss the continuous task of implementing the strategy across the university and making it work in practice.
