Make events great again: experiencing «Focus on the Brain
The event series “Focus on The Brain” has attracted large audiences at UiOsstage for interdisciplinary dialogue and dissemination stage. The venue is open for the general public and easy accessible.
This project originated from a collaborative brainstorming session involving 19 communication professionals across UiO. It launched a series of 15 packed physical meetings, events culminating in a grand finale attended by 500 people on the topic “The Brain and Art”. Our format is based on both scientists, experts and “patients”, creating knowledge-based conversations for the public that is meaningful, impactful, and even humorous. In a world full of fake news, this scene prioritize close interaction between researchers and audiences, sparking new collaborations and deepened public engagement.
UiO emphasizes a welcoming environment, with personal touches greeting eachattendee upon arrival and offering light refreshments. Meeting the audience in real life has proven essential to the series’ success. UiO highlights the unique value of events as a communication channel—often overlooked in favour of digital media strategies, and want to emphasize the significance of in-person engagement, interdisciplinary collaboration, and audience-centred design in organizing impactful events.
