How to strengthen a Universitys newsroom

A well-functioning democracy needs well-informed citizens. To support this, Lund University has launched a centralised newsroom to strengthen public debate by making research more accessible and diverse. Previously decentralised, the university has now consolidated its communication efforts in the External News Team to enhance editorial quality and coordination.

In this seminar, we will present the newsroom’s editorial process, highlight common challenges, and explain how we apply Lund University’s guidelines for public science communication. We will also share insights from the internal development work behind the launch and discuss how to build a newsroom that supports researchers and promotes high-quality science journalism.
