Effective communication of research online is essential for fostering collaboration, securing funding, and increasing impact. Yet, online spaces designed for this purpose – such as web pages for research groups, projects and centres – remain an underexplored area of science communication.
What specific goals should these web pages serve? How can templates, content and information architecture support those goals? What matters most to the researchers who own the content – and what are users actually looking for? How can researchers and web professionals collaborate successfully in creating and maintaining these web pages? And how can they best support funding applications?
To explore these questions, the University of Oslo’s communications team has conducted a comprehensive project using surveys, interviews, analytics and forum discussions with researchers, editors, advisors and funders. In this seminar we’ll present our findings and invite participants to reflect, provide feedback and share insights from their own institutions
